The Youth Parliament in the South West has called on Federal and State Governments to Make Ministry of Youths, a Platform for Job creation and Empowerment.
The Deputy Speaker, South West Youth Parliament, Olumide Fasuba made this call while addressing Journalists in Ado Ekiti ahead of the South West Youth Summit scheduled to hold in January 2023.
The Lawmaker Says, Young people in the region are appalled by the non-inclusion of Youths to Lead the Ministry which is created to cater for their Well-being. He is of the opinion that anyone above the age of 45 at most, should not be a Commissioner or Minister for Youth and Sports Development.
While Speaking on the Agenda for the South west Summit scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, he says there is a need to re-orientate and redirect the thinking and energy of Young People Towards the right course, with resource persons across all fields ready to be part of the Summit, it is hoped that it will form a basis for Productivity amongst Youths.
As 2023 is an Election Year, Fasuba States that even though Youths will be part of the Electoral Process, there is no plan to endorse any candidate for any Political Position at the Polls, as the Forum welcomes every Young person across the Political divide, and will concentrate solely on empowering the Youths Beyond this Moment.
The South West which is the Economic capital of Nigeria is seeking to produce the next President of Nigeria through the former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress a party he co-founded with Others.
He has campaigned on the platform of Youth empowerment and using the nations’ enormous Youth population as the basis for the Transformation of Nigeria into a truly great nation.
