Police Arraigns PDP Zamfara Central Senatorial Candidate, Ikra Bilbils on two-Count charge

The Zamfara Central Senatorial Candidate of the people’s Democratic Party Ikra Bilbils has been arraigned before a Majistrate Court one in Gusau, the Zamfara state Capital.

The All Progressive Congress accusing the former Minister and six other PDP chieftains of Criminal Conspiracy, Mischief, Public Disturbance and destruction of public properties in Bakura, Talata Mafara, Maru and Bungudu

The accused person Ikra Bilbils who was in court pleded not guilty to all the charges

The Defence counsel Junaidu Abubakar says the court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain the case based on section 3 law number 7 of Zamfara State 2002 restrict the powers of Majistrate Court to entertain the case

He noted that section 5 of same law gives the powers of Majistrate to transfer the case to upper sharia court for determination

The presiding judge Abubakar Gurbin-Bore agreed to with the submission of the Defence counsel and transfered the case to Upper Sharia court 2 Gusau

The Accused person and other party Supporters have arrived the upper sharia court 2 awaiting the arrival of the court registrar and the Judge.

Ikra Bilbils was arrested by police in Zamfara twenty four hours after a welcome home rally Organised by the People’s Democratic Party to welcome Dauda Lawal, the embattled Governorship Candidate of the party in Zamfara.

The arraignment of the Former minister is not unconnected with the recent clash between two groups of party loyalists of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party in Gusau, Zamfara State.

The clash had led to a war of words between the two groups as to who bears responsibility for the clash which led to injuries and destruction of property on both sides.

The case has now reportedly been moved from the Magistrate Court to the Shariah Court also in Gusau the Zamfara State Capital.
