Nigerians in Italy laud FG's intervention on passport exercise

 

Nigerians in Italy have expressed gratitude to the Nigerian government for organising a passport intervention exercise for them in three cities throughout Italy.

About 700 Nigerians were able to capture and get their passports due to this intervention that lasted 5 days.

In December 2021, National Union of Nigerian Associations in Italy, had on behalf of Nigerians in Italy raised concerns over a shortage of passports for Nigerians in Italy

At that time, more than 1.5 million Nigerians’ passports were no longer valid.

The travel passport is one of the most important documents for Nigerians living outside the country in order to comply with host country immigration laws.

For those in Italy, their travel passport is also an access for them to get jobs, contracts and resident permits.

The Nigerian government has assured that passports are available both at home and abroad and has apologized for any embarrassment that the document’s earlier lack of availability may have caused.
