Members of the Nigeria Association of Government Medical and Dental Practitioners, Kwara Chapter have threatened to withdraw their services across the state over poor remuneration.
In a letter addressed to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara and other stakeholders, Dr. Saka Agboola, Chairman of Kwara, and Dr. Ayinde Musa, Secretary of the association, stated that the threat is as a result of poor remuneration and poor working conditions.
The association lamented that “this has resulted to a major cause of mass resignation and brain drain which we are currently experiencing among doctors and other health care workers in the State”.
The association insisted that the state government recruit more medical officers in addition to constantly replacing those who resign on a regular basis.
The association also called for payment of COVID-19 allowance to members and other health care workers, as well as provision of vehicle and housing loan facility at single digit interest rate to all members as a way of motivation and retention in service.
The association threatened that if its demands were not met by September 13th, 2021, it would be forced to withdraw its members’ services from all hospitals in the state.
