A suspect, Abdulsalam Abdulkadri is now standing trial at a Kwara state high court for alleged vote buying. He was brought to the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Abdulsalam Abdulkadri is standing trial on a two count charge of conspiracy to use #120,000 to influence voters and provision of #120,000 to influence voters during the 9th of March Governorship election at unit 007, college of education, Ilorin, Kwara state. The other suspect, Oye Obalola is at still at large.
The accused person, Abdulsalam Abdulkadri pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.
EFCC counsel pleaded with the court that the accused person be remanded in prison custody, but Counsel to accused person is asking the court to remand his client in the EFCC custody if bail is not granted.
Counsel to the EFCC, Nnemeka Owema opposed the bail application by the counsel to the accused and also opposed the application that the accused be remanded in efcc custody arguing that the commission has no enough facility to keep him.
The trial judge, Justice Sikiru Oyinloye denied the accused bail and asked that the accused the remanded in prisons.
