E.U. Centre for Electoral support holds sensitisation rally in Abuja

The European Centre for Electoral Support gas organised a peace walk to sensitize voters on the importance of coming out enmasse, to vote in the forthcoming election.

There are about 2.4 million adults resident in Abuja, but only about half of this figure, 1.34Million are registered to vote in the February and March Elections.

Women and the disabled are the most disfranchised group in the Nigerian electoral process, and this affects the credibility and success of elections.

The Nigerian electoral process has always been characterized by low voter turn out, with the disabled on the receiving end. This is because there usually is no provision for them in the voting process  INEC has promised to refctify this omission in the forth coming elections.

The sensitization team also visited the palace of the Aguma of Gwagwalada where they were received by the chairman, District Heads, Gwagwalada.

Voter apathy hampers the democratic process and effective participation in this election would ensure the will of the people prevails.
