Liverpool superstar Sadio Mane has been dealt an African Cup of Nations blow after picking up a suspension ahead of Senegal’s opening match.
After picking up two yellow cards in his country’s Nations Cup qualifiers, Mane will miss the opening fixture with Tanzania.
Despite the bookings having already occurred in previous matches, the suspension has only now been imposed upon Mane and Senegal.
Mane picked up yellows in Senegal’s away win to Equatorial Guinea in 2018 and also in their 2-0 victory over Madagascar.
The Liverpool man will miss the opening showdown on June 23, but should return for Senegal’s next two group stage games against Algeria and Kenya.
Mane scored 22 goals in the English top flight, before going on to win the Champions League with Liverpool in Madrid.
