Sharing formula between INTELS, NPA inadequate – Reps committee

Sharing formula between INTELS, NPA inadequate – Reps committee
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The House Of Representatives adhoc committee investigating the process that led to the termination of the contract between the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), and INTELS Limited has confirmed that there were too many gaps, and inadequate sharing formula between the two parties.

The Nigerian Ports Authorities had terminated its boats pilotage monitoring and supervision agreement with INTELS Nigeria Limited, last year.

A truce appears to have been reached between the Nigerian Ports Authority and INTELS Limited, after issues raised by the Nigeria Ports Authority over the refusal of the company to remit revenue it collected on behalf of government, had led to the termination of the contract between the two bodies.

This is probably why representatives of INTELS were absent at the hearing instituted by the committee probing into the mode of contract INTELS is operating, and how payment is reconciled to NPA.

Members of the Committee described this as an act of impunity

NPA insisted that they relied on advice from the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF,Abubakar Malami, to terminate the contract.

In it’s final submission, NPA indicated that following some payments into the Treasury Single Account (TSA) made by INTELS, it is working towards reversing the termination of the INTELS contract.

The committee adjourned to reconvene on a later date.
