More than one hundred persons with disabilities have received assistive devices to aid their mobility in the Kuje area council of the federal capital territory.
The gesture formed part of events to kick start the commemoration of the international day of persons with disabilities with the theme, transformative solutions for inclusive development, the role of innovations in fueling an accessible and equitable world.
Kuje is a suburb of the nation’s capital city which is a forty minute drive from the city centre.

Hundreds of residents are gathered today at the council’s secretariat to receive a distribution of assistive devices to persons with disabilities.
Making up more than twenty million rate of the population, these key set of citizens go through several challenges especially when faced with mobility difficulties
Many of them were able to make it through challenging methods in order to receive devices that will aid their mobility
Persons living with disabilities regularly face stigma, discrimination and barriers to accessing basic social, economic and health care services.
This distribution of assistive devices by the sustainable family healthcare foundation seeks to alleviate some of these challenges.
Free medical care for five hundred vulnerable people have also been offered by the chairman of the kuje area council for residents.
