Zamfara State Government Shuts 11 Cattle Markets Indefinitely

Zamfara state government has again shutdown eleven cattle markets across the state over rising insecurity.

The move according to the government becomes necessary considering the spate of activities of armed bandits especially cattle rustling.

A press statement singer by the state commissioner of information, Munnir Haidara says the closure of the markets was informed by security reports that, armed bandits are conniving with their collaborators to sell off rustled cattle in the affected markets.

The affected markets according to the statement are Tsafe and Bilbis markets in Tsafe local government, Jangebe market in Talata-Mafara, Wuya market in Anka, Magamin Diddi market in Maradun, Galadi market in Shinkafi, Mada market in Gusau and local government.

The others are, Kokiya, Chigama and Nasarawar Godel markets and Sabon Birnin Danali all in Birnin Magaji local government.

Security agencies are directed to ensure strict compliance and arrest anyone who violated the order.

The state government further called on all residents to abide by the order and cooperate security agencies and government officials in its continous effort to rid the state of banditry, Kidnapping, Cattle rustling and other criminal activities.

Communities in the affected local councils had in the last few weeks came under bandits attack for days leading to the death of many while other were whisked away by the terrorists.

This is the second time in three months that the state Government under Governor Dauda is Closing down cattle markets in the state due to banditry activities.
