Some internally displaced persons (IDPs) from various camps crowded the Makurdi/Lafia Federal Highway on Thursday, preventing vehicles from entering or exiting the state.

The protest left many motorists and passengers stranded, as the displaced people expressed frustration with the prolonged displacement and continued attacks from terrorist Fulani herdsmen.

The IDPs were chanting ” we want to go home”

This is coming a day after the visit of the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who donated a billion naira for humanitarian services in the state.

Reacting to the protest, Governor Alia reassured them that his administration is committed to reaching out to the displaced and their return to their ancestral homes.
