In advocating this cause, Stakeholders from an Organization in Lagos State are pushing for better care and education for diabetic patient.

About 537 million adults globally are currently living with diabetes and this number is expected to rise to 643 Million by 2030.
Some stakeholders in shedding more light on Diabetes say lack of awareness and proper treatment is raising the number of cases.
A Consultant Physician/Endocrinologist, Akinyele Akinlade explained that diabetes is caused when a person’s body is not able to deal with the sugar that it generates from the food that person has eaten.
According to him, 50% of those who have diabetes are unaware of the condition and that is why patients are encouraged to test their blood sugar level when they visit the hospital no matter what they complain about.
According to the United Nations, diabetes is a major cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, stroke and lower limb amputation.
For the stakeholders, it becomes relevant to take this information to the grassroots.
As the cases continue to rise, stakeholders say it is necessary to
constantly check one’s health status to avoid late detection.
