A coalition of women groups has held a solidarity rally to the National Assembly demanding immediate passage of the bill seeking reserved seats for women in the state and federal parliaments.

The women groups say with the 2027 general election timetable now out, there is the need for the passage of the bill to allow political parties to begin the process of implementing the law.

The groups included persons with disabilities who insisted that with more women on the table of discussions, inclusion would be achieved, and the polity would be the better for it.

Spokesman of the House of Representatives, Akin Rotimi addressed the women groups on behalf of the National Assembly.

He assured them that about forty bills would be voted upon electronically soon in the ongoing alteration to the 1999 Constitution.
