The U.S. International Trade Commission has announced its finding on how the imports of aluminum foil from China are affecting U.S. producers.
The final decision also cleared the way for the U.S. Commerce Department to impose high anti-dumping and countervailing tariffs on Chinese aluminum foil products.
In an announcement made this February, the department said the dumping margins ranged from 48.64 percent to 106.9 percent and anti-subsidy rates from 17.14 to 80.97 percent.
China expressed “strong discontent” with United States’ steep import duties following the announcement, and said will take necessary measures to defend its interests.
The Aluminum Association Trade Enforcement Working Group filed an application for anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations on Chinese aluminum foil producers on March 9 last year.
Since Donald Trump took office on January 20 last year, the U.S. government has launched more than 100 anti-dumping and countervailing investigations against other countries, about twice the number from the previous period.
