UNILAG warns admission seekers against fraudsters

The management of the University of Lagos, UNILAG has warned admission seekers not to fall victims of scammers.

The institutions stated this while unveiling activities for its 53rd convocation ceremony to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its establishment.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola announced that a total of 2,251 graduating students will receive their degrees, diplomats and certificates during the 53rd convocation ceremony of the institution.

Out of this number, 67 students will receive postgraduate diploma, 2119 will receive master degree while 65 will receive doctorate degree.

In an exclusive interview with the vice Chancellor, she spoke about the academic calendar which was disrupted by covid-19 pandemic and the industrial action by lecturers.

She said the cutoff for this year has come out which is on the university’s website.

The Vice Chancellor advised students to go there adding that merit will always merit.

“Once you’re above the cutoff, you are in. You don’t need to see anybody.

“She also advised admission seekers not to speak to anybody about getting admission as there are a lot of scammers currently going about to defraud unsuspecting admission seekers.

Professor Ogunsola disclosed that among the 2,251 postgraduate student is Dayo Duyile, a veteran journalist and media
Guru who emerged as the oldest PhD holder at the age of 83.

According to her, the oldest female postgraduate student is another octogenarian Bridget Obigeli Okonji who obtained a Masters in Education, in guidance and counseling at the age of 82. .

The Vice Chancellor added that age is not a barrier to learning neither is it a barrier to changing the course of your life and it’s never too late to get what you want.
