United States President Donald Trump on Thursday publicly acknowledged Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during the National Prayer Breakfast held on February 5 in Washington, D.C.

The annual event, which traditionally gathers political leaders, clergy, and faith-based figures in the U.S. capital, briefly shifted focus when Trump interrupted his speech to recognise Mrs. Tinubu’s presence among the audience.

In his remarks, the American president highlighted the Nigerian First Lady’s standing and faith, drawing attention to her role as a Christian pastor in one of Nigeria’s largest churches and describing her as a woman of influence and deep spirituality.

“We’re honored to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria.

“A very respected woman. First Lady, please, where are you? Thank you very much. It’s a great honor. Thank you very much. Very respected person, too,” Trump said as he scanned the room before acknowledging her.
