Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have made a significant breakthrough in their ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, intercepting a major consignment of illicit logistics believed to be destined for terrorist elements.

Acting on actionable intelligence, troops under Operation DESERT SANITY IV carried out a targeted stop-and-search operation on September 16, 2025, around 7:40 a.m. along the Nguru–Gashua road in Yobe State. During the operation, they intercepted a red 14-tyre trailer carrying suspicious cargo.

The trailer was escorted to a secure location where a detailed inspection was conducted.

By 9:00 p.m. the same day, troops had uncovered 700 bags of NPK 20:10:10 fertilizer commonly used in the fabrication of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) alongside 27 cartons of assorted pharmaceuticals and nine cartons of saline solution.

These items were carefully hidden under stacks of fabric materials to avoid detection.

Preliminary investigations suggest the consignment was en route to the Niger Republic, raising concerns about a possible cross-border supply network supporting terrorist operations in the region.

Earlier that same day, around 10:30 a.m., troops in the same area had intercepted two Sharon vehicles and another trailer loaded with fabrics and solar panels.

Intelligence reports indicated that the materials were intended for the production of uniforms and other logistics for terrorist fighters.

All drivers, vehicle assistants, and seized items are currently in custody as investigations continue to identify and apprehend those behind the illicit shipment.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling terrorist logistics networks and has called on the public to continue sharing timely and credible information.

The Military High Command has praised the troops for their vigilance and successful operation.
