Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have intensified their offensive across Taraba State, destroying bandits’ camps, neutralising armed elements, recovering weapons and arresting a key suspect linked to criminal activities.

On 2 December 2025, soldiers launched a clearance operation under Operation Zafin Wuta in Shiid, Agia and Tyozua villages in Takum LGA following credible intelligence on the activities of armed groups in the Tor-Tser axis.

As troops advanced into mountainous hideouts, the bandits fled deeper into the terrain, abandoning their camps.

The soldiers searched and destroyed the hideouts, which the criminals had previously considered inaccessible.

In Tyozua, fleeing bandits set fire to a wooden bridge in a bid to slow the troops, but the soldiers pressed on and forced the criminals across the power line into neighbouring Benue State.

One suspect, Dahiru Maigari, was arrested during the operation and is undergoing investigation.

In a separate operation on 4 December 2025, troops on a fighting patrol around Karim Lamido came under fire near Wudompi Community.

The soldiers responded swiftly, repelling the attack and neutralising two armed men.

One AK-47 rifle and 21 rounds of ammunition were recovered, with no casualties recorded among troops.

The attackers are believed to be members of the Karimjo faction attempting to reorganise in the area.

Security in Karim Lamido remains stable as troops maintain heightened vigilance.

Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the professionalism and gallantry of the troops.

He said the series of successful operations demonstrates that no terrain is beyond the reach of the Nigerian Army and that the Brigade remains committed to pursuing criminals wherever they flee until peace is fully restored across Taraba State.
