The president of KUTEB Yatso of Nigeria, Emmanuel Ukwen has called on Taraba state government, and relevant security agents to bring to book the killers of more than 8 farmers in an ambush in Takum Local Government of the state.

The group addressed a press conference in jalingo where they complained about the persistent unrest in the Takum and Ussa Local Government Areas as well as Yangtu Special Development Area is as a result of the ungoverned tribal space created by the vaccum of the Ukwe Takum Stool for almost 30 years.

Since last year more than 50 persons have been killed in an ethnic conflict that has also displaced more than 120,000 people in 25 communities.

The recent attack on KUTEB settlement in Takum, Ussa, local governments as well as the Yangtu Special Development Area has caused more deaths and devastation.

These incessant attacks happen despite the heave deployment of security operatives to the area.

The president of KUTEB said that attack on their community was caused by a tussle over who will be king.
They want the Governor to intervene and stop the killings.

The police authority in the said that it has deployed more personnel to the areas to maintain peace and order but called on the community leaders to work towards peaceful coexistence.

Meanwhile, Governor Agbu Kefas has said that he is working relevant authorities to make sure the situation is not escalated and promise to arrest the perpetrators of the crime

The governors message was conveyed through his media aide Emmanuel Bello and reiterated the administration’s commitment to prioritising security and safety of lives.

The Agbu Kefas administration will now have to find a way to amicably settle the kingship tussle in Takum, and restore peace to the troubled region.
