Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III has charged stakeholders in the business of tax collection as well as revenue generation agencies in the country to be more diplomatic in their approach to tax collection.
The Sultan stated this when the Joint Tax Board paid him a courtesy call in his Palace in Sokoto during the 139th meeting of the Joint Tax Board ongoing in Sokoto state.
Sa’ad says if taxpayers are sure their monies would be put to good use in the best interest of the country, more people would be encouraged to pay tax with less or minimal persuasion.

The Spiritual leader says even the Holy books support taxation and he sees no reason why some wealthy Nigerians would evade tax payment.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Joint Tax Board and Chairman Federal Inland Revenue Service, Babatunde Fowler says the country now depend largely on tax revenue to funds its current and subsequent budgets therefore, state governments must do more to shore up their internally generated revenue.
