Sokoto state government says its programme for agricultural intervention has been successful, because the state took deliberate actions to ensure only real farmers are beneficiaries of the programme.
The state Governor Aminu Tambuwal revealed this to newsmen in Sokoto, stating that the committee set up by his administration to identify real farmers in the state did a commendable job.
About fifteen thousand metric tonnes of fertiliser, seedlings, and other farm implements amounting to over N1.5bn were distributed freely to farmers in the state.
The governor however, charged farmers to remain steadfast and committed to agriculture which he says is key in the drive to salvage Nigeria’s dwindling economy.
