The Nigerian Senate has directed its committees on Finance, Appropriations and Power to collaborate with the Ministry of Finance to facilitate the inclusion of the Mambilla Hydro Electric Project as part of President Tinubu’s Legacy Projects .
The upper legislative Chamber has also urged the Federal Government to ensure the 15% as Counterpart funding for the Hydro power Project of $868 Million is funded through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund .
The Senate’s resolution follows a motion moved by the lawmaker representing Taraba Central, Senator Many Haruna .
Talks about how to resolve Nigeria’s Power Challenges are brought forward for debate on the floor of the Red Chamber.
Senator Manu in his motion believes that sustaining efforts to revive and implement the Mambilla hydro Power Project in Taraba State , will put an end to the country’s age long Electricity challenges .
The lawmaker is seeking the Senate’s Intervention to ensure this mega national Economic asset is included in President Tinubu’s Legacy Project
Other lawmakers in support of the motion believe the fulfillment of the Mambilla Hydropower Project will serve as a gateway to tap into other economic benefits that will ensure the growth and development of the Country.
The Senate in its final resolution urged its relevant Committees to interface with the Federal Ministry of Finance to facilitate the inclusion of the Mambilla Hydro Electric Project as part of President Tinubu’s Legacy Projects.
