After a ten-week recess, senators have returned to the National Assembly resuming plenary with a strong call to duty from President of the SENATE , Godswill Akpabio.

In his opening speech, the Senate President urged lawmakers to confront Nigeria’s toughest challenges , from insecurity and hunger to economic reform and constitutional review , with fresh resolve and bold legislation.

He assured citizens that the Senate will remain open, accountable and independent, warning that any attempt to weaken the legislature is an attack on democracy itself.

As the nation edges toward another election season, Akpabio appealed for wiser choices at the ballot , urging voters to look beyond noise and spectacle, and entrust leadership to men and women of integrity, proven competence and true service.

The Senate President closed with a charge to his colleagues: to make this 10th Assembly a citadel of democracy and a beacon of hope for generations to come.
