nysc-mobilisationThe Director-General of the National Youths Service Corps, Brigadier General Suleiman Kazaure has warned corps members not to to be used by politicians to carry out any form of electoral malpractices during the elections in Rivers state.

He said this at a sensitization programme organized for corps members in the state.

General Kazaure told corps members to see their participation in the rerun as a call to national duty that must be executed with dedication and a sense of responsibility.

He advised them not to betray their intellectual capacity, a reason they have been part of the nation’s electoral process since 2008.

The DG was represented by the NYSC’S director of welfare and health services.

Also, the INEC electoral commissioner in Rivers state urged the corps members to see their participation as a call to national service. He assured them of their safety.

Earlier, the Rivers state coordinator of the NYSC had urged the corps members to exhibit professionalism and seriousness in the discharge of their duties during the rerun.

A drama sketch and dance drama mirroring the election process were staged by the state NYSC drama group.

Representatives of the air force, police, road safety and the civil defence corps attended the event.

It is hoped that the corps members would perform optimally avoiding any form of inducement and intimidation during the polls.
