The House of Representatives has called for the establishment of at least one computer-based testing centre in each of the 774 local government areas of the country for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

Hours after its registrar apologised publicly over the glitches in the last UTME examinations, the House of Representatives says there is a need to understand what truly went wrong and avert a repeat.

Abdulmaroof Adebayo from Osun state brought this as a matter of urgent public importance.

He called for a probe and the provision for an establishment of at least one CBT centre in the 774 council areas in the 2026 national budget.

A bill to make voting mandatory for all eligible Nigerians has passed second reading.

The House endorsed a bill seeking to compel eligible citizens to exercise their franchise during elections in Nigeria.

The sponsors believe it will eliminate voter apathy, low voter turn out and bring more credibility to elections

Although members were divided over the bill jointly sponsored by the Speaker and Daniel Asama, it scaled second reading

The camp of Nigeria’s ruling party continues to swell in the House of Representatives as three members, one from the PDP and two from the NNPP, announced their defection to the APC.

The bill to make voting mandatory for all Nigerians eighteen years and above has been referred to the special committee on constitution review chaired by deputy speaker, Benjamin Kalu for further legislative action.
