The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has placed the suspected sponsors of the violence that erupted during the #Nationwide protests on its watchlist.

The protests, which began as peaceful demonstrations against hunger, escalated into violence in some states, leading to widespread destruction and looting.

During a security briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, NIS Comptroller-General Kemi Nandap revealed that the sponsors of the violence have been identified.

“Some of these sponsors are in the diaspora. We have a number of them who actually instigated this mayhem we are seeing right now. We have placed them on our watchlist,” Nandap stated.

Nandap emphasized that the identified individuals are under close surveillance. “They are within our radar. We are ensuring that any attempt they make to enter the country will be flagged to the necessary authorities. We are working closely with the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the National Security Adviser’s office.”

The NIS’s actions highlight the coordinated efforts of Nigeria’s security agencies to address the threats posed by the sponsors of the protests and to maintain national security.
