The Kogi State Police Command has called for the cancelation of a scheduled rally in Okene and surrounding areas, citing security concerns.
According to Police Public Relations Officer William Aya, intelligence inputs indicate that hoodlums intend to hijack the event and disrupt public peace.
This comes after the Kogi State Government recently banned all sorts of rallies and processions to preserve state security.
“The Command cannot afford to jeopardize the existing peace in Kogi State. We strongly advise the organizers to cancel the event to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” the statement read.
