The Ondo State Police Command has launched Investigation into the disappearance of a man, Olaloye Olatunde, who went missing while lodging at a hotel in Akure.

Olatunde had reportedly traveled from Owo on Sunday, August 24, 2025, to attend a Child Labour programme organized by Trace Project Akure in collaboration with Charakids Foundation.

According to sources, his personal belongings including clothes, shoes, and other items — were later discovered untouched inside the hotel room where he had lodged for the seminar.

The state police spokesperson, Alayande Olushola, confirmed the development, disclosing that the matter has been formally reported to the command.

“The command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s sudden disappearance,” Olushola said.

A family member, who pleaded anonymity, explained that Olatunde had been in regular contact with his relatives from Monday to Wednesday during the programme.

However, attempts to reach him on Friday, August 29, proved futile as his phone was switched off, raising concern among family members.

His wife’s fears deepened when her repeated calls went unanswered.

Relatives who later visited the hotel were shocked to find his belongings still intact, even though other participants had checked out.

The unsettling development has left his family in distress and uncertainty about his whereabouts, prompting them to escalate the matter to the police.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the hotel management nor the programme organisers have issued an official statement on the incident.
