PRESIDENTIAL AMNESTY PROGRAMME INTERIM ADMINISTRATOR MEETS NIGER DELTA TRADITIONAL RULERS

Traditional Rulers in the Niger Delta Region have expressed support for the review and sanitisation of the Presidential Amnesty Programme by Interim Administrator, Major General Barry Ndiomu, retired.

The Monarchs at a meeting in Warri with the Interim Administrator commended the move and warned those petitioning and mudslinging him to desist.

The Presidential Amnesty Programme has arguably after 13 years not fully achieved its objectives especially in the area of rehabilitation and reintegration phase.

The programme has been characterised with ghost beneficiaries, huge debt burden, mismanagement, incessant protests, unemployment among others.

These are what the new interim administrator, in the past four months of being on the saddle, is holistically working on to refocus programme.

At this meeting with monarchs in the region, Barry Ndiomu gives accounts of his stewardship.

He also spoke about the reforms put in place as he seeks cooperation of the traditional rulers to face stiff opposition, those illegally benefiting from program.

For the royal fathers the move is a welcomed development and has their backing

This new drive to reposition the Presidential Amnesty Programme if sustained will be impactful and change the narrative for more productivity.
