The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the viral report of an alleged shooting of skit maker and social media influencer, Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, in the Sango-Ota area of the state.

Reports circulating on Friday suggested that the incident happened last Sunday afternoon while he was recording a new comedy project under the popular Sango-Ota bridge.

After the viral report, the comedian’s management has neither responded to calls nor issued an official statement regarding the incident, as the public expresses concerns over his safety.

In an earlier check of his official Instagram page, our correspondent observed that Broda Shaggi had posted about a comic craving for Moin Moin, Titus fish, and yellow pap.

While uncertainty clouds the circumstances surrounding the incident, an online report suggests that a police source speaking on condition of anonymity said that Broda Shaggi actually sustained a gunshot injury during the encounter.

However, in a statement made available to journalists on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated the command could not confirm whether the incident occurred within Ogun State.

Babaseyi said, “Good afternoon, Brethren. For the sake of clarity, the Command cannot confirm that Broda Shaggi was shot anywhere within Ogun State.”

Babaseyi further urged members of the public to refrain from spreading unverified information, noting that an investigation is ongoing.

“Investigation into the matter has, however, commenced. Members of the public are kindly advised to refrain from spreading unverified information and allow the investigation to run its course,” he noted.
