The Oyo State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered two toy pistols during a targeted operation along the Elebu-Oja area, off Alao-Akala Expressway in Ibadan.

The suspects, identified as Elijah Teejay, 21, and Ottu Emmanuel, 33, were apprehended following credible intelligence provided by vigilant residents about the activities of hoodlums allegedly robbing unsuspecting members of the public in the area.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, operatives of the Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud Unit carried out a surveillance patrol in response to the information received.

During the operation, the two suspects were arrested, and a search conducted on them led to the recovery of two toy pistols and some illicit drugs, which have been secured as exhibits.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly confessed to participating in multiple robbery incidents along the Elebu-Oja axis and other locations within and outside Oyo State.

Police authorities noted that the suspects are believed to operate across state lines and have reportedly dispossessed several victims of their valuables.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, has directed that the suspects be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations. He commended members of the public for their vigilance and timely intelligence, which he said played a crucial role in the success of the operation.

The Commissioner also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his continued support and commitment to strengthening intelligence-led policing nationwide.

The Oyo State Police Command urged residents to remain security conscious and continue to report suspicious activities to the nearest police formation.

The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring that criminal elements will not find safe haven in the state.
