The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has intensified efforts to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and community engagement through a series of strategic courtesy and familiarisation visits aimed at enhancing security and intelligence sharing across the state.
The initiative, which took place on Tuesday, 10 February 2026, reflects the Command’s commitment to building stronger partnerships with key security stakeholders and traditional institutions in support of effective border management and national security.
As part of the engagements, the Operational Headquarters of the Command received a delegation from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Works Station, Ibadan, led by Air Commodore D.U. Njoku.
The delegation was welcomed by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Wale Moses Adewole, alongside other senior officers of the Command.
Speaking during the visit, Air Commodore Njoku underscored the importance of sustained inter-agency collaboration in addressing emerging security threats.
He noted that effective synergy among security agencies is crucial to combating smuggling, economic sabotage and other transborder crimes that undermine national interests.
In his response, Deputy Comptroller Adewole expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Air Force for the visit and reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to deepen existing partnerships.
He reiterated that the Nigeria Customs Service remains committed to its statutory responsibilities of revenue generation, trade facilitation and border security, adding that collaboration with sister agencies significantly enhances operational effectiveness.
The Acting Area Controller also paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Oyo State Command, where he was received by the Deputy Comptroller of Immigration representing the State Controller, DC V.C. Oyeaka.
Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening intelligence sharing, improving coordinated border management and adopting proactive measures to bolster the state’s security architecture.
In furtherance of stakeholder engagement, Deputy Comptroller Adewole paid homage to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja.
He emphasised the vital role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace, promoting lawful trade and supporting community-based security initiatives.
The visit highlighted the importance of grassroots collaboration in addressing security challenges and creating an environment conducive to economic growth.
Deputy Comptroller Adewole reaffirmed that the Oyo/Osun Area Command will continue to build and sustain productive relationships with security agencies, traditional authorities and other stakeholders to ensure the effective discharge of its statutory responsibilities.
The engagements form part of the Command’s broader strategy to enhance cooperation, improve operational efficiency and strengthen security across Oyo and Osun states.
