Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has forwarded a fresh list of commissioner–nominees to the State House of Assembly as part of efforts to reconstitute his cabinet.

The nominees are the same former commissioners who served in his administration before the cabinet was dissolved on 10 August 2025.

In a statement, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, said the decision followed extensive consultations with the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Ekiti and other key stakeholders.

According to the statement, returning the former commissioners is aimed at ensuring party unity ahead of the 20 June 2026 governorship election. Appointing an entirely new cabinet so close to the polls, it noted, could prove counter-productive.

Oyebode recalled that party leaders, traditional institutions, community representatives and other stakeholders had jointly worked with the governor’s screening committee in selecting the commissioners and other appointees in 2023.

He added that Governor Oyebanji has consistently emphasised the role of party structures and community leaders in appointments to ensure accountability and broader representation.
