Over Seventy -seven thousand teachers are set to write the December Batch of the Professional teachers qualifying examination.
The registrar, Teachers registration Council of Nigeria, Josiah Ajiboye who disclosed this in Abuja said the Council will not shift its December 31st deadline to end quackery in the teaching profession.

The National Council on Education had made a decision that all teachers in both public and private schools in Nigeria must be qualified, registered and licensed by the Teachers regulation council of Nigeria.

The directive backed by the Federal Government set, December 31st 2019, as deadline for teachers to register for the examination.

According to the council, over two million teachers have now registered for the examination.

The deadline for implementation of the directive draws nearer and there has been a lot of pressure on the Teachers Registration Council with the rush by more teachers to take the examination

But the Council says the government will not shift the 31st December deadline to end quackery in Nigeria teaching profession.

Over 77,000 teachers have now registered to take the December batch of the examination with Lagos State recording the highest number of teachers to take the examination and Sokoto state with the least.

The Examination, according to the registrar, will be monitored by commissioners of Education in States where the examination will be taking place.

The December Batch of the Teachers examination for the year is expected to commence from the 5th to the 7th of December, 2019.
