In an effort to change people’s perspectives, explore ideologies for a large global audience, and increase native capacity and global talent exports in film production, the organizers of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) have announced that over 500 films from the middle east region were submitted to the festival in 2022. The festival’s goal is to highlight stories from Africa and other countries through film.

According to AFRIFF, it offers a thorough immersion into the world of African filmmaking with participation from markets in the Diaspora as well as all of Africa. These markets support projects in the film industry like Netflix, Amazon, and Disney.

Chioma Ude, the festival’s founder and director, told the media at the 11th edition parley event in Nigeria with the theme “Indigenous for Global” that filmmaking in Africa had advanced quickly over the previous two decades and that this year’s edition aimed to change how people around the world viewed African stories and films.

Ude further explained that the keynote conversations for the 11th edition will feature high-profile speakers and facilitators from around the world, with high-value networking as a preconceived outcome.

She said that the speakers will be mostly senior executives from the film production and distribution industries from Nigeria, Kenya, Morocco, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The festival is intended to explore new-age technical frontiers in film production, with a focus on the use of sound and visuals in the creation of award-winning short, feature, documentary, and animation films in Africa for a global audience.
Additionally, they will work to develop opportunities for showcasing the best participating filmmakers and their works to a global audience.
