The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has announced that over 250,000 Nigerian women have registered for the EmpowerHER Financial Literacy Programme — a flagship initiative designed to strengthen women’s financial, digital, and entrepreneurial skills nationwide.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, marks a major stride in the Federal Government’s drive to advance women’s economic empowerment and inclusive participation in national development.
Implemented in partnership with Kudimata Nigeria Ltd, a leading financial literacy and empowerment organization, EmpowerHER provides women across the country with access to tailored training, digital resources, and a nationwide delivery framework.
Speaking at the programme launch in Abuja, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim described the initiative as a cornerstone for national transformation that places financial knowledge at the heart of women’s empowerment.
> “With EmpowerHER, we are laying the foundation for a financially literate and economically empowered generation of Nigerian women — one that will strengthen families, communities, and our nation,” she said.
The Minister further emphasized that financial and digital literacy will serve as the foundation for all empowerment programmes under the Ministry, ensuring sustainability, transparency, and measurable impact. This aligns with the Renewed Hope Social Impact Interventions 774 of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Also speaking, Kathleen Erhimu, Founder of Kudimata Nigeria Ltd, noted that EmpowerHER is more than a project — it is a movement to ensure every Nigerian woman, whether in business, public service, or rural enterprise, can build wealth, grow businesses, and shape her own future through financial and digital empowerment.
Accessible through the Happy Woman Platform, the programme offers comprehensive learning modules covering financial and digital literacy, entrepreneurship development, access to finance, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
Anchored on the Renewed Hope Agenda, the EmpowerHER initiative targets to reach 10 million Nigerian women by 2030, both digitally and through community-based participation, ensuring no woman is left behind.
Hon. Sulaiman-Ibrahim reiterated that from the classroom to the marketplace, every Nigerian woman deserves the knowledge and tools to thrive — building a generation that is informed, equipped, and unstoppable.
