A few hours after the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State chapter, announced a caretaker committee to oversee the administration of transport unions in the state, the Osun State Government directed the immediate suspension of all activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in motor parks across the state.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, the government said the decision followed a security meeting convened by Governor Ademola Adeleke with heads of security agencies.
The statement directed the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to arrest anyone parading himself as an official or executive of the NURTW in any motor park across the state.
Governor Adeleke also ordered the immediate establishment of a Rapid Response Squad comprising all security agencies in the state to ensure strict compliance with the directive.

The governor stressed that no individual or group should operate in any motor park in the name of the union until further notice, warning that anyone found violating the order would be arrested and prosecuted for actions capable of disturbing public peace.
