Residents of Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA) in Zamfara State have turned out in celebration as Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) donated 200 bags of fertiliser to farmers in the area.
The initiative, part of the Army’s civil–military cooperation efforts, is aimed at boosting food production, improving livelihoods, and fostering lasting peace across the North West and parts of North Central.
The fertiliser was formally presented to the Emir of Tsafe, Abubakar Muhammad Bawa, by Brigadier General Nkemakolam Mbaka, the Theatre Logistics Component Commander, on behalf of the Theatre Commander, Major General O.O. Soyele.
General Soyele said the gesture underscored the military’s commitment to non-kinetic interventions that promote resilience in rural communities. He added that improved access to farming inputs would encourage farmers to return to their fields while security forces continue operations against banditry and terrorism.
The Emir of Tsafe described the donation as timely, noting that it would enhance agricultural productivity and improve the welfare of his people.
He urged farmers to use the fertiliser judiciously and pledged continued support for security operations in the state.
Community leaders, local officials and residents present at the event commended the Army for combining security operations with initiatives that directly benefit the people.
