The Federal Government, through the National Productivity Centre, has trained 80 persons, including women and youths in Ankara fabrics and accessories production in Ondo State.

The three-day training, which took place in Ile-Oluji, is designed to make the beneficiaries self-reliant.

The rising rate of unemployment in Nigeria has brought about rapid increase in rural-urban migration.

Many Nigerian youths continue to seek white collar jobs, which has made many people redundant and unproductive.

The federal government is seeking to address this trend, through training of young persons in skills acquisition.

This was evident at the training for 80 persons, including youths from six local government areas of Ondo South Senatorial District.

The Programme, which was organised by the National Productivity Centre, was facilitated by the Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Nicholas Tofowomo.

The Director-General of the Centre, who was represented at the training, urged Nigerian youths to shun social vices and embrace skills acquisition.

The training, which was monitored by representative of the Department of Special Duties, saw beneficiaries going home with tools.
