Ogun NEMA, SEMA, distribute relief materials to flood victims

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has presented relief materials to flood impacted persons in Ogun State.

The Director General of the Agency who was represented by Bamidele Abdullah made the presentation to the State Government in Abeokuta.

It was the flag off ceremony of direct distribution of President Muhammadu Buhari special intervention of release of assorted grains from the silos and the approved relief materials for 2022 flood impacted persons in Ogun State.

The exercise which was carried out by the National Emergency Management Agency was done in collaboration with the Ogun state Emergency Management Agency.

According to a representative of NEMA’s Director-General, Bamidele Abdullah, the relief materials include maize, sorghum, and Garri and have been delivered to the state government to assist the most vulnerable groups.

He added that other food and non-food items donated include rice, beans, maize, vegetable oil, tomatoes, mats, mosquito nets, toilet soaps and clothes.

The Commissioner for Special duties in Ogun State, Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan who represented the Governor appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari, the ministry of humanitarian affairs and disaster management and NEMA for the intervention and promised to ensure that the affected persons get the materials.

She also promised further collaborate with all the emergency agencies in order to ensure safety and cater for the welfare of the people.

The event was attended by Chief Imam of Egbaland and other Stakeholders’ in the state.
