The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp in Benue state has promised the government that it will get the necessary intelligence needed to combat crime and criminality in the state.
The State Commander of the Corps met with top government officials in Makurdi and assured that it would do all within its power to avert situations that could undermine the peace and security of Benue State.
In recent times, Benue State has contended with insecurity resulting in arson, loss of lives and property, armed robbery and intimidation of innocent citizens.
In other to curb this menace, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps has said there is need to share intelligence with the state government and it live up to its responsibility of ensuring security and gathering intelligence.
The commander who is barely two weeks old in Benue said the Corps has about 99 percent volunteers drawn from the grassroots who will be able to assist
in crime prevention.
Residents also stressed the importance of the state government collaborating with the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, in curbing Cultism in the state
It is expected that when there is unity among security agencies and state government, the cases of crises will be drastically reduced.
