The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has praised the Nigeria Police and other security agencies for the swift arrest of the key suspect behind the recent deadly attack in Yelwata, Benue State, which claimed many lives and caused widespread destruction.
NOA Director General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, described the arrest as proof of the security forces’ dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens. He noted that their quick response has brought relief to affected communities and reassured the nation.
He thanked the security agencies for their ongoing efforts to uphold law and order, stating that the arrest sends a strong message to those who may be plotting similar acts of violence.
Highlighting NOA’s role in security advocacy, Issa-Onilu referenced the National Values Charter’s “Nigerian Promise,” which lists peace and security as key responsibilities of leaders. He said this development reflects the fulfillment of that commitment.
He also acknowledged President Tinubu’s prior directive during his visit to Benue, which called for the arrest of the culprits, and commended his timely intervention.
The DG further praised the collaboration between the various security forces, describing it as crucial to the success of the operation and vital in addressing Nigeria’s complex security landscape.
He called on citizens to keep supporting security agencies by sharing accurate and timely information, stressing the importance of public cooperation in maintaining peace.
Finally, Issa-Onilu reiterated NOA’s dedication to fostering unity, patriotism, and peaceful coexistence across the country.
