NNSS Calabar Marks 20th Anniversary, Sends Off Class of 2026

The Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS), Calabar, has celebrated its 20th anniversary with a passing out parade and graduation ceremony.

The Commandant, Navy Captain Muhammad Nura Dahalatu, urged graduating students to uphold discipline, integrity and patriotism in their future endeavours.

Speaking at the ceremony in Calabar, Dahalatu described the occasion as a historic milestone marking two decades of the school’s existence.

He said the graduating Class of 2026 had demonstrated six years of dedication, resilience and military discipline through their academic achievements and parade performance.

“Our mission has always been to produce young men and women who are academically excellent, morally upright, physically fit and committed to national service,” he said.

The Commandant noted that the school was established to provide world-class education rooted in discipline, patriotism and excellence, adding that it has produced thousands of alumni who are making meaningful contributions across various professions in Nigeria and abroad.

“Twenty years later, that vision has blossomed into a legacy of outstanding academic performance, exemplary character formation and remarkable achievements by our alumni,” he said.

Dahalatu paid tribute to the leadership of the Nigerian Navy, former Commandants, teachers, instructors, administrative staff and parents for their contributions to the institution’s growth.

He also recognised the pioneer Commandant, retired Commodore Amatre Kpou, who attended the event as Special Guest of Honour, for laying the foundation of the school.

Addressing the graduating students, Dahalatu urged them to remain committed to excellence and to uphold the values of discipline, integrity, responsibility, courage and patriotism as ambassadors of the institution.

He also thanked the Chief of the Naval Staff, Naval Headquarters, the Eastern Naval Command, the Akpabuyo community and the Cross River State Government for their continued support.

The ceremony featured a colourful passing out parade, presentation of awards and activities marking the school’s 20th anniversary.

The event also marked Dahalatu’s final official engagement as Commandant of NNSS Calabar, as he congratulated the graduating class and wished them success in their future pursuits.
