The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, at its retail outlets nationwide.

In Abuja and surrounding areas, the price has risen to N955 per litre, representing a N65 increase from the previous rate of N890. In Lagos, NNPC retail stations now sell petrol for N915 per litre, up from N865.

The latest hike has sparked concerns among commuters and business owners already struggling with high inflation and cost of living.

According to a Nigerian Tribune survey, the new prices have taken effect across several NNPC stations in Abuja’s Central Business District, Wuse, Berger, Nyanya, and Mararaba in neighbouring Nasarawa State.

Meanwhile, some independent marketers were selling at varying rates. MRS stations in AYA, Abuja, sold for N850, while AA Rano offered fuel at N920 per litre. In Mararaba, NIPCO, Zamson, and AYM Shafa stations on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway pegged their prices at N920.

At the time of filing this report, NNPC Limited had not issued an official statement on the increase. However, the adjustment follows an upward revision of the ex-depot petrol price by Dangote Refinery from N820 to N858 per litre.
