The Nigeria National League (NNL) board of directors has postponed the start of the 2023-2024 league season to a later date to be announced.

The postponement was forced by the inability of teams to complete their registration process, according to George Aluo, chairman of the NNL board.

The League was supposed to commence on October 28.

Mr Aluo stated that the board considered the inability of teams to meet the Oct. 25 registration deadline due to the country’s economic situation when making its decision.

He said “We regret to announce that the 2023/2024 league season originally planned to kick off this Saturday at the Uyo Township Stadium, Akwa Ibom state has been postponed to a new date which will be communicated to teams once clubs finish formalisation of registration process”.

The Chairman made additional hints, stating that clubs are now encouraged to make sure they finish their registration by November 3, 2023, and that the NNL board will then announce a new date for the league’s start.

However, he said, the teams have been informed that missing the new registration deadline will result in their exclusion from the league.
The Chairman encouraged clubs to finish their registration by November 3rd, stating that the board will announce a new date for the league’s start after registration is completed.

He however warned that teams who fail to meet up with the new registration date will not participate in the league.
