The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that its Passport Digital Platform will undergo temporary service disruptions as the agency begins scheduled system maintenance aimed at improving service delivery.
In a statement issued by its spokesman, Akinsola Akinlabi, the NIS said, “The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to inform the general public that it is carrying out routine maintenance on its Passport Digital Platform to enhance system performance and overall user experience.”
The maintenance exercise is expected to run from 12:00 a.m. on December 12 to 6:00 a.m. on December 14, 2025 (GMT).
“During this period, users will experience temporary service interruptions, slow response times, or limited access to selected NIS Passport Services,” the agency noted.

The NIS appealed for public understanding, stressing that the routine upgrade is necessary to sustain a “secure and efficient digital passport ecosystem.” It added that users needing assistance during the downtime may reach its support team via email at support@immigration.gov.ng or through its official social media platforms.

“Our technical teams are working around the clock to ensure full service restoration within the stated timeframe,” the post read.
The announcement follows shortly after the Service introduced temporary complaint-response channels on social media, following the removal of its previous support accounts.
According to the notice, applicants facing challenges with passport and visa services can now lodge complaints through the provisional X handles @InquireAtNaija, @nigimmigration, and @InquireAtNaija_, as well as via Instagram.
