The UN Women’s office has agreed to partner with the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, to contribute to women’s empowerment, gender equality and inclusion in governance processes in Nigeria.
A memorandum of understanding was signed to this effect between the two institutions in Abuja to forge a common ground for addressing the challenges confronting women across the country.
The Director General of the institute, Abubarkar Sulaiman, says the legislative amendment of the Act establishing it, now provides technical services designed to develop democratic institutions and strengthen the capacity of parliamentarians on issues bordering on gender equality and women exclusion.
