Nigeria and the United States have reached agreements to strengthen cooperation in its 5 working groups under the Binational Commission – Health, Security cooperation, Trade and shared prosperity, Democracy, Governance and accountability, and movement of people.
This was disclosed at the closing ceremony of the Nigeria- US 6th Binational Commission held in Abuja.
Nigeria and the United States have been engaged in a 2 day meeting for the annual Binational Commission aimed at deepening ties and addressing key issues of mutual interest.
The Binational Commission, established in April, 2010 had high delegation from the US and Nigeria to focus on strategic dialogue and planning to expand mutual cooperation across areas of shared interests.
On the movement of people, the US reaffirms her commitment to diplomatic cooperation on extradition, deportation, adoption and Visa issues.
Also group on democracy and good governance looked forward to continued partnership in peace building efforts.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar says the partnership is focusing on the use of technology for job creation as the Deputy Secretary promises to begin a dialogue on UN Security Council and G20 to address some of the complexities.
