NDLEA Destroys 1828 Blocks of Cocaine in Lagos

These may not be the best of times for drug barons and cartels operating in Nigeria as the chairman National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa retired has promised to give them tough times across the country.

He stated this at the public destruction of part of the 1.8ton of cocaine recovered from a warehouse in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

The Drug seizure was the biggest in the history of Nigeria worth a whopping N194 Billion.

Just a few days later, Officers of the NDLEA, who understood the assignment take up strategic positions to prepare for the destruction of the drug.

With that sense of adequate security they went to work.

At the end of the process of preparing the Drugs for destruction each block is placed in a pre-preopared place in the dump ready for destruction.

The agency’s Chairman who took his time to speak before the destruction, was represented by the Director, Prosecution and Legal Services, Deputy Commander General of Narcotics, said the destruction does not anyway mean the end of the case

The Agencys as part of efforts to convince those present that the items slated for destruction are the Cocaine seized earlier asked six dignitaries to make a random pick which was tested.

The Lagos State governor who was also represented also lauded the efforts of the agency

The signing of the certificate of destruction by the stakeholders brings the exercise to its climax.

The items that were destroyed part of the seized Cocaine contained 1828 blocks.

They were burnt with some of the suspects arrested at the warehouse also also part of those who witnessed the destruction.

The agency assured all those present including partners that the trial will be pursued to a logical conclusion
