The Southwest Zone of the National Association of Nigerian Students has called on the Academics Staff Union of Universities to call-off strike and resume work after Court of Appeal’s ruling.

In a statement signed by the Coordinator of NANS Southwest Zone D, Stephen Tegbe, the students’ union leader advised ASUU to obey the Ruling by the Court of Appeal by resuming work while negotiation is still ongoing.

The Coordinator said, the incessant ASUU strike and the insistence of the federal government to yield to their demands has been a setback to the education sector which has in turn marred the growth of the sector.

According to him, the inability of both parties to reach a compromise has tortured 3 million Nigerian students, and rendered them paying for unmindful sins of the bad governance.

Stephen described the ruling by the Court of Appeal that ASUU should resume while negotiation with the federal government is ongoing, as relief and therapy to the dying dreams of many Nigerian students.

According to the Stephen, we are appealing respectfully to the demands of ASUU, and future of Nigerian students which the retrogressing system has traumatized, that they should comply with the court order.

While advising that Federal Government to be considerate with their negotiation, the students also urged the lecturers to lenient with their decisions by considering the ageing students and the labouring parents.
